Where do newborn and older baby sessions take place?

Newborn and older baby sessions take place in my dedicated studio space at my home in Salisbury (Wiltshire), where the environment is set up to be welcoming, calm and provide the perfect lighting and backdrop to your photographs.

I can also offer a newborn session at your home if preferred so that your special photographs capture your home exactly as it was when the session took place. Own-home newborn sessions cost £300.

Where do outdoor family sessions take place?

Outdoor family sessions will take place at a location within 30 miles of Salisbury city centre in a forest, field or beach location - please check my instagram pages seasonally for details of outdoor locations available. If there is a particular location which is special to you that you would really like to use, please do get in contact to chat through your ideas as I’m always interested in trying new things.

How early should I book my newborn session?

It’s best to book as early as possible! I recommend booking anytime after your 20 week scan though you can book in sooner if you like. We will pencil a date in based on your due date but this is flexible as babies don’t often work to our schedules. You can contact me once baby arrives and we will firm up a final session date.

My partner doesn’t like having their photo taken and is worried it will be awkward.

These sessions aren’t about capturing traditional “family portraits” with everyone standing up straight and smiling for the camera! Instead, the focus is on parents and children enjoying each other’s company, taking a bit of time out from day-to-day routines, phones, chores and just focusing on each other. It is very rare for me to ask you to “look at me and smile” so please don’t worry.

How old should my baby be for their newborn shoot?

Newborns are best photographed at 4-10 days old while they are fresh and sleepy. However, we can book a date up to a few of months old if a session in baby’s first two weeks isn’t practical or possible for you.

How many photos will we receive in our gallery?

You will receive an online gallery of at least 40 beautifully edited images within 3 weeks of your session. You will also receive duplicates of all images in black and white.

You can to choose 10 images from your gallery to download digitally - these are included in your session price.

How do I pay for my session?

A deposit is required within 24 hours of receiving your booking email. For all sessions, the deposit is £100.

The balance of the session cost is due on the day of your session.

What if my toddler won’t cooperate?

I was a primary school teacher for over a decade so I’m well-practised in play and engaging with children! My sessions are family-led and I feel that part of my job is to build a relationship with your little ones in order to help me create the images you’re hoping for. My golden rule? Parents - please don’t stress. Your toddler/baby will sense it! Try to relax into the process and trust that, no matter how chaotic a session with a younger child can feel, your final gallery will reflect the calm in the storm!
